-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pquota version 1.1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This module is an attempt to provide an easy interface to a group of DBM files used to store print quota information. The main design goal was to make writing UNIX printer interface scripts easy. The POD gives a good description of the data model for Pquota, and explains all the methods and their uses. We've also included a sample interface script and a supporting script for it. See samples/README for more details. Please feel free to email us and let us know if this has been useful, or if you've got any pointers or suggestions for us. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLING -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The usual. perl Makefile.PL make make test make install No big secrets here. The tests are just there to make sure that your system has working DBM modules. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PREREQUISITES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bare minimum, Pquota needs MLDBM, which in turn requres Data::Dumper to convert Perl data structures into strings, and SDBM_File to store them to disk. But MLDBM has options to use any of the *DBM_File modules instead of SDBM_File, and either Storable or FreezeThaw instead of Data::Dumper. And since the docs for MLDBM recommend using something other than the default, so do I. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHANGES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.0 - 1.1: - Added check for MLDBM in Makefile.PL - Dumped IO::File, since we didn't need it - Various performance tuning -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AUTHORS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David Bonner http://www.cs.bu.edu/staff/TA/dbonner Scott Savarese http://www.cs.bu.edu/staff/TA/savarese -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THANKS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to John Siracusa for reminding us that it might behoove us to worry about performance, and for his list of modest suggestions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COPYRIGHT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright(c) 1998, 1999 David Bonner and Scott Savarese.
